Job description

For the department Standards & Homologation we are looking for an EU Compliance Specialist responsible for creating and maintaining a regulatory outlook as input for Product Definition in Product Development projects.

The Regulatory outlook is based on legal information gathered from various sources, such as legal working groups (EC/UNECE) and automotive associations (ACEA/RAI). Legal notifications are issued to inform all stakeholders in the organization on upcoming or changed legislation.

Your main reponsibilities

  • Represent DAF in discussions with automotive associations and (inter) national authorities about future regulations;
  • Attend congresses, symposia and other events to keep track of upcoming EU regulations for heavy duty vehicles;
  • Create regulatory forecasts as input to product definition and multiyear product plan;
  • Inform the DAF organization regarding upcoming changes in legislation by issuing Legal Notifications;
  • Review the impact of future legal requirements on our current and future product program in cooperation with vehicle definition and engineering departments;
  • Coordinate the assignment of Legal Notifications to project scope in cooperation with project management;
  • Deploy Legal Requirements derived from published EU Regulations;
  • Build and maintain relationships with the relevant stakeholders (incl. governmental agencies).

In this function, you will report to the Manager Standards & Homologation.

Your profile

  • Bachelor or master in automotive, mechanical or electrical engineering;
  • Experience with / knowledge of the European automotive homologation process;
  • Experience in cooperation with governmental agencies / type approval authorities;
  • Proactive organized personality;
  • Strong communicative and persuasive skills;
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English.

Department

The department of Standards & Homologation (S&H) is responsible for obtaining all component, system and vehicle type approvals required to register trucks worldwide and ensuring DAF is always up-to-date with regard to future regulations.

S&H also plays a crucial role in the certification process of the MX11 and MX13 engines used in Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks. Lastly, S&H ensures DAF is using the latest internationally agreed industrial standards (ISO, IEC, SAE, DIN, etc.) to ensure qualitative and cost efficient development and operation.
