Our trucks have many ECUs, and we develop software for two of them. These ECUs are called the powertrain controller and the vehicle controller. Both projects are automatically built using a Jenkins pipeline.
As we are moving some of our infrastructure to Azure DevOps, we want to move from Jenkins to Azure Pipeline.
This task includes:
- Research how our current pipeline works;
- Research what Azure Pipeline can do and how that matches to what we currently do;
- Research migration of the pipeline from one project to another;
- Research the possibility of Azure Devops integration with Azure Pipelines and Bitbucket;
Possible extensions:
- Propose new ways of improving our pipeline with the features offered by Azure DevOps;
- Improve logging and error handling capabilities of our pipeline processes;
- Research how to add an automated reviewer to individual repositories to verify the pull-request contents;
- Research artifact storage for automated builds and checks.

DAF Embedded Engineering is primarily located in Eindhoven as part of PACCAR Electronics. The rest of our department is located in Renton (near Seattle, USA). Our location in Eindhoven has about 200 highly skilled people today. Together with our colleagues in Renton we deliver world class engineering in the domains of powertrain controllers and vehicle controllers.
The products developed within PACCAR Electronics are applied on DAF trucks but also in the famous PACCAR brands Kenworth and Peterbilt. Through component sales our products are also used by leading bus and coach manufacturers.
