At DAF, there are various departments where you can intern in the Automotive field.
Product Development
More than 1100engineers work within Product Development to optimize, develop and test our current and future trucks, engines and components. Various specialists in the fields of automotive, mechanical engineering, electronics, safety, hydraulic systems, engines, aerodynamics and materials science are committed to developing the truck of the future.
This is all done in cooperation with the PACCAR technical Centers in the United States and Great Britain. The latest technologies are used in a high-tech environment, with the aim of maximizing efficiency, optimum reliability and leading performance. Of course with the lowest possible impact on the environment.
Operations
Production at DAF Trucks takes place in both Eindhoven (NL) and Westerlo (BE). The engine factory, the sheet metal component factory and the truck factory are located in Eindhoven. Among other things, assembly is done in the engine and truck factory. The metal and mechanical components which are produced in Eindhoven are used for the production of the axles and cabins in the production facilities in Westerlo.
Quality, knowledge and expertise are central to Product Development.
Logistics Operations
At DAF we work according to the ‘direct line feeding’ principle: suppliers deliver directly to the assembly lines. As a logistics professional, you ensure that the parts are delivered in the right order, and at the right time in the production process. Our trucks are manufactured according to the build to order principle, so it is of great importance that we can rely on the delivery at the right moments.
Logistics has an important role in the distribution of our trucks as well. Dozens of trucks start their journey to customers all over the world. A logistic operation that requires a great amount of planning and organization.
Marketing & Sales
Success requires more than the development and production of excellent trucks. Promotion, sales, logistics and after sales play are also of great importance. We are able to offer a full package for transport solutions for our customers by aligning those aspects.
Supporting the sales organisations, the dynamics and interaction with customers, that's what Marketing & Sales is all about. The aim is to offer the best possible service to our customers. This is done by a variety of departments and roles, where sometimes commerce and sometimes technical knowledge is predominating.
